Stone Town Council is pleased to announce that Councillor Jessica McQueen has been elected as the Town Mayor of Stone for the 2026/27 civic year. Councillor Stephanie Thredgle has been elected to serve as Deputy Mayor.

The appointments were made at the Council’s Annual Meeting and mark the beginning of the final civic year before local elections are held in May 2027. As Town Mayor, Councillor McQueen will serve as the town’s first citizen and principal civic representative, supporting community organisations, local events, charitable initiatives and the many volunteers who help make Stone a thriving and welcoming community.

Councillor McQueen is the first Town Mayor to be elected following the Council’s transition to Stone Town Council, marking a significant milestone in the civic development of the community.

Speaking following her election, Town Mayor Jessica McQueen said:
“It is a great honour to have been elected as Town Mayor of Stone. This is an exciting time for our community as we continue to grow and shape our future together. I am looking forward to meeting residents, supporting local organisations and celebrating the people whose dedication and community spirit make Stone such a wonderful place to live. I am proud to serve our town and look forward to working with fellow councillors, staff and community partners throughout the year ahead.”

Deputy Mayor Councillor Stephanie Thredgle will support the Mayor in carrying out civic duties and representing the Council at events and engagements across the town.

The forthcoming civic year will be particularly significant as it represents the final year of the current Council before residents elect a new Town Council in May 2027.

Stone Town Council looks forward to continuing its work with residents, businesses, community groups and partner organisations to support a connected and ambitious future for the town.
