Stone Parish Council joins the nation in mourning the death of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.
Statement by Council Chairman, Cllr Keith Kelly:
“Today is a very sad day for our nation and the Commonwealth. His Royal Highness served the country for six decades as consort to Her Majesty.
The Duke of Edinburgh served in the armed forces and represented our fine nation on the world stage.
I would like to express my sincere condolences to Her Majesty the Queen and the rest of the Royal Family on behalf of Stone Parish Council at this very difficult time.”
As a mark of respect, during the period of Royal mourning, the Union Flag at Stone Pavilion will fly at half-mast.
Stone Recreation Ground War Memorial is the focal point for floral tributes for the death of Prince Philip. We do ask that any packaging is removed.
Flowers are expected to remain in place at the Memorial until after the funeral when they will be taken to be composted.
May he rest in peace.
The Duke of Edinburgh, June 1921 – April 2021
