3 – Approval of Minutes

Members resolved to approve the Minutes of the Meeting of the People & Performance Committee held Wednesday 8th November 2023.

 

 

4 – To note annual timetable of Performance Reviews and areas of focus

Members were presented with a timetable for the council’s internal appraisal procedure to facilitate their awareness and support the forthcoming resolution of the annual calendar of meetings. In 2023, adjustments were made to the proposed calendar of meetings prior to its resolution, leading to a misalignment between internal activities and committee reporting. To prevent a recurrence of such discrepancies, the timetable for appraisal activities was presented to enable council members to synchronize it with the forthcoming  annual calendar of meetings. The alignment of this Calendar aims to ensure that proposed People & Performance Committee meetings in September, January, and May correspond appropriately with this cycle and other HR-related activities.

Members resolved to note the Annual Timetable of Performance Reviews and Areas of focus.

 

 

5 – To resolve to exclude press and public

6 – To note completion of Performance Reviews

Members were presented with a report outlining the findings of the March 2024 performance reviews for the period 1st October 2023-31st March 2024. The report outlined the findings of this cycle, along with proposals to address any issues/improve performance scores.

Members resolved to note the completion of the performance reviews for March 2024.

 

 

7 – To note current People & Performance Activity Report

Members were presented with a report outlining work activity, workforce status, recruitment needs, overtime and absence information.

8 – To note an update on the Community Engagement Manager

Members were presented with the Job Description for the advertised role of Community Engagement Manager. Members were provided with an update on the current plan for the recruitment of this role, as discussed in the HR Activity Report. Members were informed that the recruitment activity is planned to recommence in late April/early May to conclude the process of determining the preferred candidate to enable a formal offer of employment to be made with a prospective start date of early July 2024.As discussed in the HR Activity Report, it is proposed that recruitment activity for the role of Community Engagement Manager recommences in late April/early May to conclude the process of determining the preferred candidate to enable a formal offer of employment to be made with a prospective start date of early July 2024.

Members resolved to note the update on the Community Engagement Manager recruitment process.

 

9 – To ratify proposed performance-related pay recommendations

Members were presented with a report with proposals for performance-related pay recommendations. Following previous performance reviews, expectations regarding performance-related pay adjustments were incorporated into the salary budget for 2024-25. In the review of the workforce structure, work had been undertaken to indicate transitional placements between roles to support competency-based pay. Members were requested to recommend the proposals outlined in the attached report for ratification by the full council.

 

Members resolved to approve recommendation for performance-related pay adjustments for ratification by the full council.
