4 – Approval of Minutes

The Minutes for the Meeting of the People & Performance Committee held Wednesday 29 June 2022 were approved.

5 – To resolve to exclude press and public

To resolve, pursuant to section 1 (2) of the Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960, that because of the confidential nature of the business to be transacted, the public and the press were asked to leave the meeting during consideration of the following item.

6 – To note current HR Activity Report

Members were presented with a report on the current HR activity.

7 – Performance Reviews

To note the undertaking of the quarterly staff performance reviews.

8 – To resolve cost of living support for employees

Members were presented with a report outlining potential additional support that could be made available to Council staff, to assist with the effects of the Cost of Living Crisis.

Member resolved to recommend the following to the full Council for ratification:

  • Provision of salary advance or crisis loan (capped as necessary) to help employees deal with unexpected financial circumstances and avoid use of high interest money lenders.
  • Letting people work from home more often (if their jobs allow it) to reduce travel expenses .
  • Providing interest-free loans for public transport season-tickets, bikes, or cycles
  • Providing options for regular saving through payroll (to create a ‘rainy-day fund’ and to cope with unexpected bills)

9 – To discuss staffing and salary structure

Due to time restraints, members resolved to defer this item to a future People & Performance Committee meeting.
