At the Council Meeting on Wednesday, the Mayor of Stone presented the Coxedge Family with an award for long-standing service to the Parish.

Mayor with award recipients holding hamper and certificateFor nearly six decades, J Coxedge Fish and Chips served the community of Stone, providing excellent service, quality food and a welcoming presence to generations of residents and visitors alike. After 59 years being operated continuously by the Coxedge family, the shop has recently passed on to new owners. The Mayor thanked Cindy, Paul and the whole Coxedge family for their tireless years of service in the community and presented them with an award on behalf of the Council.

The Mayor of Stone, Jessica McQueen, praised the Coxedge family saying, “It is wonderful to see a family so proud and dedicated to the service they have provided in Stone. It is clear that it means a lot to the whole family. Myself and my fellow Councillors are pleased that we have been able to recognise such care and hard work with this award.”

The council’s Award Scheme for Exceptional or Outstanding service recognises there are times where a council member, officer, or community representative provides service to the community, which warrants special recognition. This may be to reflect length of service or give recognition to the contribution made by an individual to the community or parish.  Do you know of someone who deserves to be recognised in this way?
