To receive apologies for absence.

Relevant Legislation: Local Government Act 1972, s 85.

2 – Disclosure of Pecuniary Interests

To receive disclosure of any pecuniary interests relating to meeting agenda items.

Having declared an interest, a member must not participate in discussion on the matter and must not take part in any vote unless an appropriate dispensation has been granted.

3 – Public Participation

The council meets and makes its decisions in public. A council meeting is not a public meeting. It is a meeting held in public and there is no requirement in law which allows members of the public to speak at such meetings.

However, the council is keen to encourage public attendance at meetings and will therefore provide an opportunity to local registered electors to show it is committed to community engagement.

A maximum of 3 minutes is allowed per person to speak and the total length of time afforded for public participation at each meeting shall be no more than 15 minutes, subject to an extension of this time, in exceptional circumstances, being agreed by the Chairman.

Relevant Legislation: Local Government Act, s 100.

5 – Kent Police

For Information

To receive an update from Kent Police

PC Andrews is unable to attend, but has sent the following report:

In terms of the area of stone there are no glaring crimes being committed which affect the wider community. This is of course excluding the general drug use and dealing within the area.

My main note to residents and for the meeting is vehicle thefts. Kent Police are currently receiving an increase in vehicle crimes and is one of our main priorities with a specialised operation set up to tackle the crime series. Now it is mainly Ford Fiestas and Toyotas being stolen.

General safeguarding to be issued is ensuring vehicles are locked when returning home. Installing CCTV and lights at premises to deter suspects with potential for signage on premises as well. Not leaving cars running in the morning when it is icy to defrost them and leaving the vehicle during this time. Having keyless wave blockers and placing key fobs within these over night and during the day when not in use.

Further to this, I would like advocate people signing up to My Community Voice. This is a new system being used by Kent Police to keep residents within our wards up to date or crime series, meetings and other events. It allows me to send blaster emails regarding particular issues and allows residents to know what is going on in their area. I am planning on meeting with local parish councillors and will be advertising these meetings on My Community Voice.

Please can you share the following link where they can sign up;
