A one-year opportunity to get involved before the next elections

Stone Town Council is inviting applications from local residents to join the council through co-option.

This is an opportunity to make a difference locally, represent your community, and take part in shaping the future of Stone—while gaining valuable experience in local government.

What does the role involve?

Councillors:

  • Attend evening meetings (typically monthly)
  • Represent the views of local residents
  • Contribute to decisions on services, facilities, and community projects

The role is flexible and can be balanced alongside other commitments. Councillors are unpaid, although reasonable expenses may be reimbursed.

Who can apply?

You must:

  • Be aged 18 or over
  • Be a British citizen, or an eligible Commonwealth or EU citizen

And meet at least one of the following:

  • Registered to vote in the parish
  • Lived in the parish (or within 3 miles) for the past 12 months
  • Worked in the parish for the past 12 months
  • Own or rent property in the parish
